Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Sinks Despite New Foreign Play in Electric Vehicles

Story Highlights

Ford ramps up its Ford Power Promise in the United Kingdom, and its newest Mavericks make for a win as well. None of this helps share prices, however.

Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Sinks Despite New Foreign Play in Electric Vehicles

It could be forgiven that legacy automaker Ford (F) might have believed its fortunes in the electric car market would be better overseas. In the United States, gas is still the fuel of choice for most users. But a new plan to get Ford into the established electric vehicle markets overseas did little for it with shareholders. In fact, shareholders took the news with an unusual amount of dread, bolting for the hills and selling off into a loss of over 6% in Tuesday afternoon’s trading.

Ford is looking to get more sales on its electric vehicle, the Ford Puma, going in the United Kingdom, and to that end, it is offering up a surprisingly familiar deal. Remember the Ford Power Promise from last October? The one that offered free Level 2 home chargers with any electric vehicle purchase? Well, that plan got extended all the way across the Atlantic to hit the United Kingdom, and offer that country access to free chargers as well.

That by itself would be a welcome development, but it gets better from there. Roadside assistance packages, live support on a 24 / 7 basis, and even a warranty that covers the battery for eight years or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. All of this is designed to get Ford a little better foothold in the United Kingdom market, and from there, potentially to branch out into the entire Eurozone and beyond.

The Maverick Win

And Ford is also keeping the pace going on one of its latest releases, noted a review from Car & Driver, with the 2025 Ford Maverick. This pickup recently added not only an all-wheel-drive model, but a hybrid all-wheel-drive, which could go quite some way toward winning over pure-gas drivers in colder areas.

The Maverick was already something of a cause celebre at Ford; every year since it came out, Car and Driver has named it to its 10 Best Trucks and SUVs list. But the latest Maverick may have an easy shot back on that list thanks to a set of new upgrades. Of course, the new version mentioned already helps, but some aesthetic improvements, bigger screens in the car itself, and one other completely different model—a “street truck” version known as the Lobo—should only help its appeal from there.

Is Ford Stock a Good Buy Right Now?
