Ford Stock (NYSE:F) Lands Huge Win as Number One Iconic Company in America

Legacy automaker Ford (F) made a lot out of being an “American company.” It operated in America, and it believed in America. That presentation is paying dividends for Ford, as a new study from Time magazine and Statista found that Ford was the “No. 1 most iconic company in America.” Shareholders seemed oddly displeased, though, sending shares down over 1.5% in Friday afternoon’s trading.

The study was built around a nationwide survey of residents in the United States, who declared Ford tops of a list that included 249 other companies. All of these, reports noted, had achieved success commercially, and also played “…a vital role in shaping culture and society.” Ford beat out a range of major names, including its immediate rival General Motors (GM), as well as cultural mainstays like Disney (DIS).

Executive chairman Bill Ford noted, “Just as my great-grandfather put the world on wheels to give people the freedom of movement, our approach to the modern era is rooted in that same spirit. Innovation is not just about building batteries or technology for its own sake; it is about making people’s lives better.”

Still the Best

Meanwhile, a new result also emerged that may have some ideas turning on their heads. Ford’s best-selling Mustang is the Mach-E, showing that the gas-powered muscle car is not the primary source of automotive might. Even with the end of tax incentives on purchases, reports note, the Mustang Mach-E is still the leader in Mustang sales.

In fact, Ford sold almost as many electric Mach-Es in 2025 as it did in 2024. While sales did fall off after the incentives cut out, buyers crowded into the first nine months of the year to make their purchases. 2024 numbers were more uniform, but ended up about the same as 2025’s numbers.
