Fed Governor Christopher Waller had a “strong interview” with President Trump on Wednesday, senior administration officials told CNBC. The officials added that Trump would interview BlackRock’s (BLK) Chief Investment Officer of Global Fixed Income, Rick Rieder, at Mar-a-Lago during the last week of the year and that Fed Vice Chair for Supervision Michelle Bowman is no longer being considered for the position.

“I think he’s great,” said Trump in a reference to Waller on Thursday. “I mean, he’s been a man who has been there a long time, somebody that I was very involved with.”
Trump Signals Dovish Fed Pick as Hassett Leads Betting Odds
Earlier this week, Trump said that he would announce his selection during the next couple of weeks. He also said that his choice should support rate cuts and consult with him when making monetary policy decisions.
National Economic Council Director Kevin Hassett has the highest odds of being selected by Trump at 56% on prediction platform Polymarket. Former Fed Governor Kevin Warsh trails behind at 21%, followed by Waller at 15%.
