The Dow Jones (DJIA) is trading higher on Tuesday, although the index has given up most of its early morning gains.

The U.K. and France remain in talks to support tankers through the strait, though no commitments have been made.

Senator Lindsey Graham added that he has “never heard him so angry in my life” after speaking with Trump about the unwillingness of European allies to join the coalition and warned that the repercussions will be “wide and deep for Europe and America.” Brent crude futures (BZ) are up by over 2% on the day as traffic through the strait remains largely closed.
Iran has continued to target key oil infrastructure locations in the Middle East and launched a drone strike on the United Arab Emirates’ Shah gas field, the world’s largest ultra-sour gas development site. In addition, a tanker near the strait was hit by an unknown projectile, although it hasn’t been confirmed if Iran was behind the attack.
Ongoing geopolitical tensions have also delayed the Trump-Xi summit, which was originally scheduled for March 31 to April 2. Trump noted that the meeting has been rescheduled and will take place in “about five weeks.”
The Dow Jones is up by 0.27% at the time of writing.
