Investors are looking to the minutes for additional insight into the central bank’s outlook on inflation and the labor market, as well as the future path of interest rates. In November, the Fed voted 9-3 to cut rates by 25 bps to a range between 3.50% and 3.75%, marking its third reduction of the year.
Will the Fed Lower Rates Again in January?
The vote showed that Fed officials are sharply divided, with the three dissenting votes marking the highest number since 2019 and casting doubt on whether the central bank will lower rates again when it meets on January 28, 2026.
Traders are betting that the Fed will hold rates steady during its first meeting of the new year with 83.9% odds, according to CME’s FedWatch tool.
