President Trump is currently engaged in a high-stakes phone call with Chinese President Xi Jinping, with a TikTok deal, tariff negotiations, Nvidia (NVDA) chip shipments, and Russian oil likely on the agenda. The two leaders are also set to talk about an in-person meeting in China.
“My relationship with China is very good,” Trump said in an interview with Fox News on Thursday. “And it sounds like they have approved TikTok.”
TikTok Framework Deal, Tariff Extension in Store
Earlier this week, negotiators from both sides met in Madrid and agreed to a framework deal for TikTok, pending final approval from Trump and Xi. Afterward, Trump teased another tariff extension for China.
“We may do an extension with China, but it’s an extension based on the same terms that we have right now, which are pretty good terms,” Trump said. The current deadline falls on November 10.
