In an interview with Fox News, Trump said the conflict is “very close to being over,” adding that he believes Iran wants to reach a deal “very badly.” That comes despite talks between the sides over the weekend falling through due to disagreements surrounding the Strait of Hormuz, Iran’s enriched uranium stockpile, and its frozen assets.

Ceasefire Extension Hopes Push Dow Higher

The U.S.-Iran two-week ceasefire is set to expire on April 21, although regional officials told the Associated Press that both countries gave an “in principle agreement” to extend the truce.

The Dow Jones has surged higher in recent days as investors grow increasingly confident that the two sides will be able to resolve their differences. The index has nearly regained all of its losses since the war began on February 28.
