Disney Stock (DIS) Slips Despite New Zootopia 2 Trailer

Disney (DIS) stock slipped on Thursday despite the release of a new trailer for the entertainment company’s upcoming film, Zootopia 2. This latest trailer shows off main characters Judy Hopps and Nick Wilde as they continue their adventures after the end of the first film. Disney also riled up fans of the original movie with a scene that shows Nick Wilde wearing a “Foxy Dad” shirt, leaving some wondering about the relationship between the two main characters.

Disney has high hopes for Zootopia 2, and that makes sense considering the success of the first film. The original Zootopia pulled in $341.3 million in the U.S. and Canada and $682.5 million internationally on a budget of $150 million. This makes it the company’s 10th-highest-grossing animated film.

Zootopia 2 will be released in theaters on November 26, 2025, meaning its box office performance will be added to other Disney films that came out this year. This could make 2025 a win for Disney, as currently its box office releases are mixed, with some films well above budgets and others not performing as well.

Disney Stock Movement Today

Disney stock was down 0.4% on Thursday, but remained up 7.36% year-to-date. The shares have also rallied 28.47% over the past 12 months. With a Nov. 26 release date, it will be some time before investors see the full effect that Zootopia 2 may have on DIS shares.

Is Disney Stock a Buy, Sell, or Hold?

Turning to Wall Street, the analysts’ consensus rating for Disney is Strong Buy, based on 17 Buy and three Hold ratings over the past three months. With that comes an average DIS stock price target of $134.67, representing a potential 13.15% upside for the shares.
