DeepSeek, a Chinese artificial intelligence (AI) startup, has slashed the prices of all its models, including its new model V4-Pro. The private company is cutting down costs to attract more developers and enterprise users. The reduced rates also come as AI competition surges among firms in China, with many opting for affordability to appeal more to users.

DeepSeek announced that it has cut the price of input cache hits across its entire API suite to one-tenth of its previous price, with the change taking effect immediately. The move will help lower computing costs and attract more developers and users to its AI models.
At the same time, the company said its recently launched V4-Pro model will remain available at a 75% discount until May 5. The move is part of its plans to boost adoption quickly and expand its market share.
More broadly, many AI companies are now moving from early testing to real-world adoption of large language models (LLMs). Because of this, cutting inference and usage costs has become a key part of staying competitive in the AI sector.
Price War Intensifies Across the Global AI Market
DeepSeek’s price cuts are expected to push rivals to lower rates as well, especially in China, where firms are rapidly building tools to match Western tech. This is because most firms are trying to gain more clients and developers by offering cheaper and better AI tools.
As such, price cuts have now become a key tactic to boost competition, alongside performance and growth. This trend is also being shaped by geopolitical factors, including U.S. tech bans, which have sped up growth in China’s local AI ecosystems.
