An update from Whitehaven Coal Limited ( (AU:WHC) ) is now available.
Whitehaven Coal has priced US$900 million in senior secured notes through its subsidiary Australian MetCoal Financing, issuing two tranches of US$450 million maturing in 2031 and 2034 with coupon rates of 6.25% and 6.75% respectively. The notes, sold to qualified institutional buyers under Rule 144A and to offshore investors under Regulation S, will be guaranteed by Whitehaven and certain subsidiaries and are expected to settle in New York on 22 April 2026.
Proceeds from the issuance will be used to repay the remaining balance of Whitehaven’s US$1.1 billion acquisition term loan and for general corporate purposes, reshaping the company’s debt profile. Following completion of this transaction and a new syndicated bank facility, Whitehaven expects a lower average cost of debt of around 6.3%, longer maturities and an annual interest expense reduction of about A$50–55 million, improving its capital structure and financial flexibility for stakeholders.
The most recent analyst rating on (AU:WHC) stock is a Buy with a A$9.75 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Whitehaven Coal Limited stock, see the AU:WHC Stock Forecast page.
