Volaris Overcomes Engine Hurdles in September Traffic

Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (VLRS) has released an update.

In September 2024, Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline serving Mexico and the Americas, reported a 12.8% year-over-year decrease in ASM capacity due to accelerated Pratt & Whitney engine inspections, resulting in aircraft groundings. Despite this, the airline saw an increase in load factor to 85%, transporting 2.3 million passengers and noting a slight uptick in international RPMs. CEO Enrique Beltranena remains optimistic about the company’s performance as it moves into the last quarter of the year and beyond the period of accelerated engine inspections.
