Volaris Overcomes Capacity Drop with Robust Load Factor

Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion SAB de CV (VLRS) has released an update.

Volaris, the ultra-low-cost airline serving Mexico and the Americas, has reported a decrease in capacity by 17.5% in May 2024, attributed to Pratt & Whitney engine inspections and subsequent groundings. Despite this, the company saw an increase in load factor to 86.1% and transported 2.4 million passengers. CEO Enrique Beltranena noted strong booking trends and robust performance, particularly in the U.S.-Mexico transborder market, which now comprises over 40% of Volaris’ capacity.
