Vizsla Copper ( (TSE:VCU) ) has provided an update.

Vizsla Copper has appointed veteran capital markets executive Shawn Matthews as a Strategic Advisor, adding deep global investing and regulatory experience as it advances its Palmer copper project in Alaska. Matthews, founder and CIO of Hondius Capital Management and former CEO of Cantor Fitzgerald & Co., brings more than 30 years of multi-asset trading and investment leadership to the company.

Management expects his government-relations experience and market relationships to bolster Vizsla Copper’s strategic positioning, particularly as copper’s role as a critical mineral drives stronger demand. To align incentives, the company granted Matthews stock options and restricted share units under its Omnibus Equity Incentive Compensation Plan, which remains subject to TSX Venture Exchange and disinterested shareholder approval at the next annual meeting.

The appointment underscores Vizsla Copper’s push to accelerate development and exploration success at Palmer and across its portfolio in Canada and Alaska. For stakeholders, the move signals a focus on enhancing capital efficiency, improving access to financing and strengthening market engagement in a volatile but high-growth copper market.

The company aims to position itself as a responsible copper explorer and developer in politically stable regions, targeting high-potential projects that can benefit from rising demand for copper as a critical mineral. With institutional backing and a portfolio concentrated in North American jurisdictions, Vizsla Copper is seeking to build scale and advance its projects toward development in a supportive regulatory environment.
