Astro Resources NL ( (AU:VMS) ) has issued an update.
Venari Minerals has produced 99.5% purity battery-grade lithium carbonate in first-pass metallurgical test work from its Red Mountain project in Nevada, confirming that its sedimentary mineralisation can be processed into a value-added chemical product using established flowsheets. The achievement de-risks downstream processing, supports Red Mountain’s potential as a domestic U.S. lithium chemical source and coincides with stronger lithium prices, enhancing the project’s strategic appeal.
Test work also revealed potential by-products in Epsomite and strontium, commodities for which the U.S. is heavily import dependent and which serve agricultural and defence markets. Venari plans expanded metallurgical programs to improve lithium carbonate purity, reduce reagent use, test alternative leach methods and assess commercial recovery of these by-products, which could further boost project economics and align the company with U.S. critical minerals supply-chain priorities.
