TotalEnergies SE ( (FR:TTE) ) has provided an update.
TotalEnergies and Galp have reinforced their long-term commitment to Namibia following a high-level meeting with President Netumbo Nandi‑Ndaitwah, where they detailed progress and next steps in their partnership across key offshore Orange Basin licenses. Under their agreement, TotalEnergies will assume operatorship of Petroleum Exploration License 83, home to the Mopane discoveries, while Galp will enter PEL 56 and PEL 91, which include the Venus discovery, positioning both companies at the center of Namibia’s emerging deepwater oil and gas industry. The partners underlined expected benefits for local employment, skills development and supply-chain activity, and stressed the need for continued regulatory support to advance project timelines. Work is progressing on Venus toward securing the conditions for a potential final investment decision in 2026, while a three‑well exploration and appraisal campaign at Mopane is planned for 2026 to better define resources and move the project toward development, laying the groundwork for Namibia to become a new regional energy hub.
