Thorney Opportunities Ltd. ( (AU:TOP) ) has issued an update.
Thorney Opportunities Ltd reported that its after-tax net tangible asset backing rose to 85.9 cents per share at 30 April 2026 from 78.8 cents a month earlier, with the investment portfolio gaining 9.05% in April and outperforming the S&P/ASX Small Ordinaries Accumulation Index by 5.72 percentage points for the month. Key contributors to the rebound included Southern Cross Electrical Engineering, Zip Co, AMA Group, Austin Engineering and COG Financial Services, while the portfolio remained heavily weighted to ASX-listed securities and financials, with a notable allocation to infrastructure, energy and industrial names.
The company highlighted a strong balance sheet with approximately $24.7 million in cash held with major banks and undrawn prime broker and margin lending facilities, providing significant deployable capital. This liquidity underpins ongoing capital management, including the purchase of 611,750 shares under its on-market buyback in April and the renewal of the buyback program through March 2027, as management maintains a cautious but confident outlook amid global market volatility, supply chain disruptions and inflationary pressures.
