Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings received a 12.1 billion yen grant in March from the Nuclear Damage Compensation and Decommissioning Facilitation Corporation under a revised Special Business Plan approved in January 2026. This latest tranche is part of a long-running support framework that has so far provided TEPCO with 11,483.2 billion yen in grants and 188.9 billion yen in indemnity payments to fund nuclear damage compensation.

The utility requested 17.1 billion yen in funding for the 167th time as projected compensation payments through April 2026 are set to exceed previously secured support, with details on the April grant to be disclosed later. The ongoing financial assistance underscores TEPCO’s continued reliance on public funds to meet its compensation obligations from the Fukushima nuclear accident while it commits to addressing affected parties’ claims with what it describes as understanding and compassion.
