Telefonica Brasil Advances with Major Regulatory Agreement

Telefonica Brasil (VIV) has released an update.

Telefonica Brasil S.A. has reached a significant agreement to transition its Fixed Switched Telephone Service (STFC) from a concession regime to an authorization system, which involves concluding ongoing legal disputes, withdrawing arbitration against ANATEL, and committing to certain public interest investments over the next decade. The agreement, once given final approval by the Federal Court of Audit and the Federal Attorney General’s Office, will ensure continuity of STFC services in select São Paulo locations until 2028. This strategic move was unanimously approved at the company’s recent Board of Directors meeting and is expected to streamline operations and reduce legal uncertainties.
