Taseko Mines ( (TSE:TKO) ) has provided an update.

Taseko Mines has produced the first copper cathodes from its new commercial facility at the Florence Copper operation in Arizona, marking the first new copper output from a U.S. greenfield project since 2008. Once the site reaches its planned capacity of 85 million pounds of copper per year, Taseko expects to rank as the third-largest copper cathode producer in the country, with Florence projected to deliver at least 1.5 billion pounds over 22 years.

The Florence operation is the first greenfield mine globally to use in-situ copper recovery, a lower-cost extraction technology that the company says offers environmental benefits over conventional mining. Taseko plans to keep all Florence copper within the United States to support critical manufacturing supply chains, positioning the project as a strategic contributor to U.S. critical minerals security amid stagnant domestic output and rising global copper demand.
