GK Resources ( (TSE:ESAF) ) has issued an announcement.
Syntholene Energy has secured a land lease and construction permit for a 500 m² site at the historic Húsavík Power Station in Iceland, where it will build its first demonstration-scale thermally integrated electrolyzer facility for synthetic aviation fuel. The agreement anchors the company’s Icelandic operations and gives it access to existing geothermal infrastructure, an experienced industrial workforce, and a supportive municipal partner focused on non-fossil fuel development.
By repurposing the preserved geothermal systems at Húsavík, including intact heat exchangers, district heating ties, and a 20-km geothermal pipeline, Syntholene expects to cut early-stage civil work, reduce schedule risk, and lower capital needs for its demonstration plant. The permit, effective through March 2027, allows the company to begin site preparation and modular facility deployment, positioning Syntholene to scale its solid oxide electrolysis technology and support regional economic diversification and domestic aviation fuel demand.
