Sumitomo Mitsui Holdings ( (JP:8309) ) has provided an announcement.

Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Group reported its consolidated Common Equity Tier 1 capital ratio at 11.46% as of December 31, 2025, with Tier 1 and total capital ratios at 12.81% and 14.19%, respectively, slightly lower than at the end of March but comfortably above minimum requirements. The group and its main banking unit, Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, also increased total capital and risk-weighted assets, underscoring a solid capital base that supports ongoing business growth while maintaining buffers required for domestic systemically important banks.

At Sumitomo Mitsui Trust Bank, the consolidated CET1 ratio stood at 10.45% and the total capital ratio at 13.26%, while on a non-consolidated basis CET1 reached 9.40%, all exceeding regulatory floors even as risk-weighted assets expanded. The modest movements in ratios alongside higher capital and required capital levels indicate stable capital adequacy and sustained capacity to absorb risk, which should reassure regulators, investors and other stakeholders about the group’s financial resilience.
