Starbreeze AB has announced a strategic shift to focus on its flagship PAYDAY franchise, discontinuing the development of Project Baxter. This decision results in a non-cash impairment of SEK 255 million but is expected to strengthen Starbreeze’s position in the gaming industry by reallocating resources and talent to enhance the PAYDAY series. The move aims to accelerate growth, increase player engagement, and position Starbreeze as a leader in the heisting genre, with plans to become cash-flow positive by 2026.
