Star Diamond Eyes Carbon-Negative Mining Future

Star Diamond Corporation (TSE:DIAM) has released an update.

Star Diamond Corporation is pioneering an eco-friendly approach at their Star – Orion South Diamond Project by exploring Carbon mineralization to potentially create a carbon-negative diamond mine. Recent studies indicate that the project’s kimberlite rock, rich in Lizardite, can absorb significant amounts of CO2 from the atmosphere, possibly up to 398 kg per tonne of processed kimberlite. With an estimated 470 million tonnes of kimberlite to be processed over the mine’s lifespan, the company is investigating this innovative method to leverage the large volume of waste rock for environmental benefit.
