Standard Chartered ( (GB:STAN) ) just unveiled an announcement.

Standard Chartered PLC has announced the purchase of 891,878 of its ordinary shares as part of a share buy-back program. The shares were acquired at prices ranging from 1,002 to 1,078 GB pence, with a volume-weighted average price of 1,039.3833 GB pence. This buy-back, which involved a total expenditure of over $456 million, is part of the company’s strategy to manage its capital structure by reducing the number of shares in circulation, thereby potentially enhancing shareholder value. Following the cancellation of these shares, the total number of voting rights in the company will be adjusted to reflect the new total of 2,383,569,201 ordinary shares.
