South32 ( (AU:S32) ) has provided an update.
South32 has appointed Sinead Kaufman as an independent non-executive director, with her tenure to commence on 1 April 2026 ahead of seeking shareholder election at the company’s 2026 annual meeting. The move adds deep operational and international mining expertise to the board as South32 targets stronger operating performance and advances its base metals growth strategy.
Kaufman brings three decades of global resources experience, most recently serving as Chief Executive Minerals at Rio Tinto, where she led a diverse portfolio of commodity operations worldwide. Her background across copper, aluminium, bauxite, diamonds, coal and iron ore, as well as overseeing major coal divestments in Australia, is expected to bolster South32’s governance and strategic oversight as it positions itself in metals vital to the energy transition.
