SMX Partners with TruCotton to Launch Molecular Traceability Initiative for U.S. Cotton

On 26 January 2026, SMX (Security Matters) PLC announced a new initiative with TruCotton, a U.S. cotton traceability and branding program produced by WildWood Cotton Technologies, to develop full-chain verification of U.S.-grown cotton by embedding SMX’s molecular markers directly into the fiber. The collaboration aims to create a scientific, material-level method to prove cotton’s origin and authenticity throughout domestic and international supply chains, shifting traceability from documentation-based systems to tamper-resistant, machine-readable evidence that links physical cotton to secure digital records. By extending SMX’s proven textile-marking platform to U.S. cotton, the project is intended to enable a new class of premium, authenticated cotton inputs, strengthen brand and supply-chain integrity, and better support trade, compliance and consumer confidence in products marketed as U.S.-origin cotton, potentially enhancing the competitive positioning and value of U.S. cotton in global markets.
