SMART Taps Debt Market With Rp1.2 Trillion Bond and Sukuk Phase II Issuance

Golden Agri-Resources ( (SG:E5H) ) just unveiled an update.

SMART is proceeding with the second tranche of its ongoing domestic debt-raising programme, launching Phase II of its Sustainable Bonds V and Phase II of its Sustainable Sukuk Ijarah I in 2026, following earlier 2025 issuances. The company will issue Rp672 billion in bonds split into five- and seven-year series with coupons of 6.20% and 6.50% respectively, and Rp528 billion in sukuk ijarah with similar tenors and equivalent returns, all issued in scripless form and listed on the Indonesia Stock Exchange, backed by the company’s entire assets on a pari passu basis without specific collateral and supported by a Double A Minus credit rating from PEFINDO. The structure, including bullet repayments at maturity and quarterly interest or profit distributions, signals SMART’s strategy to tap both conventional and Sharia-compliant investors for long-term funding, while investors are cautioned about liquidity risk and the instruments’ nature as unsecured claims alongside other creditors.
