SK Telecom, a leader in the mobile industry since 1984, is now transforming into a global AI company, focusing on AI infrastructure, transformation, and services to enhance industry, society, and life. In its first quarter of 2025 earnings report, SK Telecom announced a revenue of KRW 4.4537 trillion, with an operating income of KRW 567.4 billion and a net income of KRW 361.6 billion. The company highlighted growth in its AI businesses, particularly in AI data centers and AI transformation, despite a slight overall revenue decrease due to subsidiary sales in 2024. Operating income saw a notable increase of 13.8%, while net income remained relatively stable with a slight decrease of 0.1% year over year.
The company’s AI data center business recorded a revenue increase of 11.1% year over year, while its AI transformation business grew by 27.2%. SK Telecom is also expanding its AI services with the upcoming launch of ‘A. Biz’, an enterprise-focused AI assistant. The telecommunications segment showed a steady increase in subscribers, particularly for 5G and high-speed internet services. Additionally, the company has made its quarterly dividends more predictable, setting the first quarter dividend at KRW 830 per share.
In response to a recent cybersecurity incident, SK Telecom has enhanced its customer protection measures, including an upgraded Fraud Detection System and a new ‘SIM Reset’ solution to prevent SIM cloning. The company has also temporarily halted new subscriber recruitment to focus on SIM replacement services, aiming to restore customer trust through a newly established ‘Customer Trust Restoration Committee’.
