SBS Transit Ltd ( (SG:S61) ) just unveiled an announcement.

SBS Transit’s latest annual general meeting highlighted its position as Singapore’s largest public bus operator with about 57% market share in a structurally competitive, regulated environment designed by the Land Transport Authority to ensure high-quality, cost-effective services and multiple strong operators. Management stressed that the business remains relatively low-risk and asset-light, with improved productivity, strong rail reliability and a track record of returning excess cash via special dividends, even as profit growth is constrained by margin pressure.

At the meeting, the board and management addressed shareholder questions on capital management, geopolitical risks, tender strategy and technology, saying cash levels are calibrated to regulatory capital needs and potential new contracts, with any extra distributions subject to regulatory consultation. They noted limited direct impact from higher diesel and electricity prices due to contract structures and hedging, outlined their confidence in upcoming bus tenders such as the Serangoon–Eunos package, and described early-stage deployment of autonomous buses with bus captains onboard as part of a multi-phase collaboration with LTA to test future operational models.
