The latest update is out from Santana Minerals Ltd. ( (AU:SMI) ).
Santana Minerals has secured build slots with Komatsu New Zealand for a NZD$115 million mining fleet to support the start of construction at its Bendigo-Ophir Gold Project, contingent on a fast-track approval decision due in late October 2026. The conventional excavators, 140-tonne haul trucks and ancillary equipment will be supplied under a leasing proposal backed by Komatsu OEM finance, forming the core of the project’s mobile fleet.
Komatsu will also provide a comprehensive long-term support package, including five years of on-site technical support, integrated maintenance and parts services, fleet management and monitoring technologies, and productivity and simulator training. Santana’s CEO said the owner-miner model, residential workforce and strong OEM backing are expected to lower operating costs and enhance reliability, reinforcing the project’s positioning as a stable, cost-efficient gold producer once in operation.
