Sankamap Hits High-Grade Gold at Fauro’s Meriguna Target, Plans 2026 Drill Program

Sankamap Metals reported preliminary assay results from grab sampling at the Meriguna target on its 24,000-hectare Fauro Property in the Solomon Islands, returning multiple high-grade gold and silver values, including up to 116 g/t gold and 87.5 g/t silver, with an average of 16.4 g/t gold across all rock samples. The company says the results, supported by visible gold in artisanal alluvial workings and strong similarities between the Meriguna and nearby Kiovakse targets, reinforce evidence of a robust epithermal mineralized system and will guide a phased 2026 exploration program of systematic sampling, geophysics and focused drilling to test the scale and continuity of mineralization.

Management highlighted that elevated gold, silver and copper values across both Meriguna and Kiovakse, combined with multiple untested geophysical signatures around the Fauro caldera rim, underscore the property’s significant discovery potential within an underexplored but highly endowed regional copper-gold belt. The integration of new sampling with historical data is expected to refine high-priority drill targets, with potential implications for Sankamap’s growth prospects and positioning in the Oceania precious metals exploration space if substantial resources are ultimately delineated.
