An update from Saab AB ( ($SE:SAAB.B) ) is now available.
Saab has secured a SEK 2.6 billion order from the Swedish Defence Materiel Administration for a mobile, modular counter-unmanned aerial system aimed at protecting the Swedish Armed Forces and critical civil infrastructure from drone threats. Deliveries of the fully operational system, which integrates Saab and selected third-party sensors and effectors into a layered air and drone defence architecture, are scheduled for 2027–2028 and are expected to reinforce Sweden’s airspace security and strengthen Saab’s position in the fast-growing C-UAS market.
Developed in partnership with the Swedish Armed Forces and FMV, the system is designed to detect, track and neutralise low-flying small- to medium-sized drones while seamlessly connecting with existing defence assets. The contract underlines rising demand for cost-efficient, adaptable counter-drone capabilities, supporting Saab’s broader strategy to expand in high-tech surveillance and air defence solutions amid increasing concerns over unmanned aerial threats.
The modular and mobile design allows rapid deployment and integration with current air defence and drone defence postures, enhancing operational flexibility for Sweden. By leveraging field-proven components and an interoperable architecture, Saab is positioned to offer a scalable, exportable solution, potentially opening further international opportunities as militaries and infrastructure operators worldwide seek comprehensive C-UAS protection.
