Resource Base uses satellite imagery to define titanium targets at Gawler Craton tenement

Story Highlights
  • Resource Base used Sentinel-2 satellite spectral analysis to map regolith and identify multiple titanium targets within its EL7060 tenement in South Australia.
  • The study defined three priority target clusters and a secondary zone, providing a cost-effective framework for field exploration, with ground-truthing and sampling of these titanium-prospective areas set to begin.

The latest announcement is out from Resource Base Limited ( (AU:RBX) ).

Resource Base Ltd has reported results from advanced satellite spectral analysis over its EL7060 tenement in the Gawler Craton, South Australia. Using Sentinel-2 VNIR/SWIR imagery, the company mapped regolith types such as quartz-rich sands, titanium-bearing phases, iron oxides and clay-rich materials to better understand surface geology and potential mineralisation.

The study identified multiple priority titanium targets, including three main target clusters and one secondary zone where quartz-dominant sands coincide with elevated titanium oxide responses and iron-bearing phases, a signature consistent with favourable environments for heavy mineral accumulation. The work also mapped clay- and smectite-rich cover, providing a cost-effective first-pass framework to prioritise exploration, with ground-truthing programs such as reconnaissance mapping and sampling of these priority zones now set to commence.

EL7060 overlies an anorthosite complex that is considered prospective for titanium systems, and the spectral responses show similarities to material associations seen in regional heavy mineral systems of the Muckanippie Suite, including at the Rosewood and Duke deposits. While no direct equivalence to known deposits is claimed, the results refine Resource Base’s understanding of the regolith architecture in this covered terrain and sharpen the company’s exploration focus on potentially titanium-rich areas within the tenement.
