PowerX, Inc. ( (JP:485A) ) has issued an update.
PowerX, Inc. will add a new production line for its large-scale battery energy storage system, the 10-foot container-type Mega Power 2500, at its Power Base headquarters factory in Tamano City, Okayama Prefecture. The upgraded line is designed to produce 800 units a year, or about 2 GWh of capacity, backed by a 2.0 billion yen investment funded through a mix of own capital and borrowings, with operations scheduled to start in February 2027.
The new line will operate alongside the planned Power Base Hokkaido plant in Tomakomai City and an existing partner factory in Tamano, forming a three-site manufacturing network targeting 7.5 GWh of annual capacity by 2030. Power Base will function as the mother factory overseeing manufacturing technology and quality control, a multi-site structure that PowerX says will bolster production resilience, expand domestic BESS output, and contribute to Japan’s energy self-sufficiency, with only minimal impact expected on 2026 financial results.
