Solarbank Corp. ( (TSE:SUNN) ) has shared an announcement.
PowerBank has made a US$500,000 strategic investment in Orbit AI, becoming one of the first solar and energy players to enter the space infrastructure market and securing an economic interest in the company’s orbital AI and blockchain platform. The deal includes an option for PowerBank to invest a further US$500,000 within 12 months and envisages collaboration on solar energy and thermal control systems for future missions.
The funding follows the successful “Orbit AI Genesis” satellite mission in December 2025, which demonstrated an orbital cloud that combines AI inference computing, blockchain validation and decentralized communications in low Earth orbit. Orbit AI aims to scale to a 5,000-satellite constellation by 2030 to serve the fast-growing satellite communications, AI infrastructure and blockchain markets, positioning PowerBank as an energy backbone partner in a potential US$700 billion-plus space-based data and communications opportunity.
The Genesis satellite leverages continuous high-intensity solar exposure, passive radiative cooling and proprietary architecture to target lower long-term operating costs than terrestrial AI clusters. The partnership underlines PowerBank’s strategic push beyond ground-based solar into space-powered digital infrastructure, though the companies also disclosed a related-party connection between Orbit AI’s CFO and PowerBank CEO Richard Lu.
The most recent analyst rating on (TSE:SUNN) stock is a Buy with a C$6.00 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Solarbank Corp. stock, see the TSE:SUNN Stock Forecast page.
