POET Technologies, Lessengers Team on 1.6T Optical Transceiver for AI Data Centers

The latest update is out from POET Technologies ( (POET) ).

POET Technologies and Lessengers have expanded their partnership to co-develop a 1.6T 2×DR4 optical transceiver module aimed at next-generation AI clusters and hyperscale data center networks. The design combines POET’s Optical Interposer-based optical engines with Lessengers’ Direct Optical Wiring technology to create compact, high-density interconnects that simplify packaging while supporting the surge in bandwidth demand from AI workloads.

Samples of the 1.6T 2×DR4 module are slated for release in the second quarter of 2026, timed to coincide with an industry shift toward higher-bandwidth optical links in data centers. The collaboration positions both companies to tap into a forecast market of more than 125 million 1.6T-class units over 2027–2031, reinforcing their roles in supplying key optical infrastructure for hyperscale and AI networking environments.
