On April 29, 2026, Philip Morris International issued $750 million of 4.125% notes due 2029 and $750 million of 4.875% notes due 2036 as senior unsecured obligations under its longstanding indenture with HSBC Bank USA. The notes were sold through a syndicate of underwriters including Barclays, Mizuho, SMBC Nikko, Morgan Stanley, Santander and Standard Chartered, following a registered public offering in the U.S.

The company plans to add the net proceeds to its general funds, with potential uses including general corporate purposes, repayment of commercial paper, refinancing its 0.875% notes due 2026 and working capital needs, underscoring an active approach to balance sheet and liquidity management. The notes carry customary covenants, optional redemption features and semiannual interest payments, reinforcing PMI’s access to long-term capital and its ongoing banking relationships with major global financial institutions.

Spark’s Take on PM Stock

According to Spark, TipRanks’ AI Analyst, PM is a Outperform.

PM scores solidly on strong profitability and cash generation plus supportive, reaffirmed/upgraded EPS outlook and continued smoke-free momentum. The main constraint is elevated balance-sheet risk from persistently negative equity and higher debt, with mixed near-term technical momentum and a relatively high P/E partially offset by the dividend yield.
