Orvana’s Deep Drilling at Taguas Points to Porphyry Potential in Argentina

Story Highlights
  • Orvana’s deep drilling at its 100%-owned Taguas project has intersected a vertically zoned system transitioning from high-sulfidation epithermal into a deeper porphyry environment, indicating potential for a larger copper-gold system at depth.
  • Preliminary assays from hole TADD-278, including 0.25 g/t gold and 0.12% copper over 205 metres, are viewed as encouraging but still early-stage, with further drilling and pending results needed to assess the scale and economic viability of the mineralization.

Orvana’s Deep Drilling at Taguas Points to Porphyry Potential in Argentina

Orvana Minerals ( (TSE:ORV) ) has shared an update.

Orvana Minerals reported initial results from its ongoing deep drilling campaign at the Taguas project in Argentina, where the first deep hole TADD-278 has reached about 1,326 metres and is ultimately targeted to 1,500–2,000 metres. Early geological observations indicate a vertically zoned hydrothermal system transitioning from a high-sulfidation epithermal environment into a deeper porphyry setting, suggesting the potential for a more extensive copper-gold system at depth.

Preliminary assays from 715 to 920 metres show broad low-grade gold and copper mineralization, including 0.25 g/t gold and 0.12% copper over 205 metres, while higher-grade copper intervals higher in the hole are linked to epithermal enargite mineralization. With assays below 920 metres still pending and structural complexity slowing progress, the company cautions that further drilling is required to determine the continuity, size and economic significance of the mineralized system, but management views the results as encouraging for refining Taguas’ long-term development strategy.

The most recent analyst rating on (TSE:ORV) stock is a Sell with a C$1.50 price target. To see the full list of analyst forecasts on Orvana Minerals stock, see the TSE:ORV Stock Forecast page.
