Orsted ( (DOGEF) ) has provided an announcement.
Ørsted said that its U.S. offshore wind projects Revolution Wind and Sunrise Wind, which are fully permitted and in advanced stages of construction, have been ordered by the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management to suspend all activities on the outer continental shelf for 90 days, with the regulator retaining the option to extend the suspension. The company and its partners are complying with the order while exploring options to resolve the issue swiftly, including engagement with regulators and potential legal action, in a move that temporarily clouds the outlook for two flagship projects slated to start supplying power in 2026 and underscores regulatory and permitting risks for the fast-growing U.S. offshore wind sector, where Ørsted has made significant investments in generation capacity, grid upgrades, port infrastructure and unionized local jobs.
