Ørsted Boosts UK Energy with Mega Battery Project

Orsted (DOGEF) has released an update.

Ørsted A/S is set to enhance the UK’s renewable energy capacity with a large-scale battery energy storage system co-located with Hornsea 3 Offshore Wind Farm, aiming to stabilize the energy supply and reduce consumer price volatility. The 600 MWh storage system, one of the largest in Europe, will store excess power during high generation periods and release it when needed, thus maximizing renewable energy usage and supporting grid balance. Slated to be operational by the end of 2026, this project complements Ørsted’s existing portfolio of renewable energy solutions and marks a significant investment in the UK’s clean energy infrastructure.
