Orion Minerals Finalises Okiep Copper Project Acquisition in South Africa

Orion Minerals Limited ( (AU:ORN) ) has shared an announcement.

Orion Minerals has completed settlement of the final acquisition consideration for a controlling interest in the Okiep Copper Project in South Africa’s Northern Cape, marking the conclusion of a transaction first initiated in 2021. The company will pay about ZAR2.30 million in cash and issue roughly 71.91 million shares, while also committing to further exploration expenditure on the newly acquired mineral projects by November 2026.

Remaining mineral rights linked to the Bulletrap Copper Co and Nababeep Copper Company portions of the Okiep transaction have been granted by South African authorities and will be registered under New Okiep Exploration, with some prospecting rights from SAFTA still in the grant process. With exploration and drilling programs already underway and its selection for the 2026 BHP Xplor accelerator program, Orion is positioning Okiep as a key growth asset, reinforcing its strategic foothold in a prospective copper district and signalling potential long-term value for stakeholders.
