Oriental Land Co. will establish a wholly owned subsidiary, Oriental Land Cruise Co., Ltd., to manage and operate Japan-based Disney cruise services as part of its 2035 long-term strategy for sustainable growth. The new cruise business is intended to become a key pillar alongside Tokyo Disney Resort, marking a strategic move into family entertainment cruises in Japan.
The subsidiary, capitalized at ¥450 million and based in Urayasu, Chiba, is scheduled to be set up and commence operations on April 3, 2026, with senior personnel from Oriental Land serving concurrently as its directors. While the company expects minimal impact on earnings for the fiscal year ending March 2026, construction of a Japan-registered Disney cruise ship modeled on the Disney Wish will begin in the second half of fiscal 2026, ahead of the planned service launch in fiscal 2028.
