The latest announcement is out from Orbital Corporation Limited ( (AU:OEC) ).
Orbital UAV has secured a new order from India’s Dynamatic Technologies for its 350HFE propulsion system to power the Super Cheel UAV, expanding an existing partnership that already covers the 150HFE engine for the Cheel tactical drone. The Cheel platform, designed for advanced reconnaissance in harsh environments, is undergoing flight testing with Indian Defence Forces, positioning Orbital as a key foreign propulsion supplier within an otherwise domestic Indian UAV supply chain.
The Super Cheel variant aims to meet more demanding missions such as the Indian Navy’s long-range surveillance needs, with future production volumes dependent on adoption by India’s military. Orbital also recently signed a five-year distribution deal to supply 50HFE engines into the UAE and received an order from Australia’s Freespace Operations, where its 150HFE engine is set to extend heavy-lift drone endurance from about 40 minutes to over three hours, broadening its reach into emerging defence and logistics drone segments.
