NU E Power Corp. ( (TSE:NUE) ) just unveiled an update.
NU E Power Corp. has signed a Joint Development Agreement with Mongolian partner Tsegtskharaa LLC to advance the proposed Darkhan Energy Park, a 600 MW hybrid facility that combines high-efficiency, low-emissions coal-fired generation with 100 MW of planned battery storage. NUE has completed preliminary grid access work, selected the site, started paying for required environmental and feasibility studies, and expects these studies to conclude within three months, with offtake envisioned under a U.S. dollar-denominated power contract targeting data centres, AI infrastructure, industrial users, and households.
The Darkhan Energy Park is positioned as an early-stage thermal project aimed at improving Mongolia’s energy security and easing infrastructure constraints, while preserving flexibility for NUE to adapt the project as market conditions change. Under the joint structure, a Mongolian project company will be formed with Tsegtskharaa contributing long-term land rights and local regulatory support, and NUE is also seeking accreditation with the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification to participate in COP17 in Ulaanbaatar, signaling an effort to align its development activities with broader international policy discussions on land and environmental issues.
