Nippon Telegraph and Telephone Corporation (NTT) is a leading Japanese telecommunications company providing a wide range of services including fixed and mobile voice-related services, IP/packet communications, and system integration services.

NTT recently released its earnings report for the three months ending June 30, 2025, showing a slight increase in operating revenues but a decline in profits compared to the same period last year. The company continues to focus on its core telecommunications services while exploring strategic investments and divestitures.

For the quarter, NTT reported operating revenues of ¥3,262,039 million, a 0.7% increase from the previous year. However, operating profit decreased by 7.0% to ¥405,193 million, and profit attributable to NTT fell by 5.3% to ¥259,714 million. The company’s equity ratio also declined from 34.0% to 30.3%, reflecting changes in its financial position.

NTT is actively engaging in strategic initiatives, including the sale of data center assets and the acquisition of shares in SBI Sumishin Net Bank Ltd. These moves are part of NTT’s efforts to optimize its portfolio and strengthen its market position. Additionally, NTT issued significant corporate bonds in the overseas market, indicating its focus on securing financial resources for future growth.

Looking ahead, NTT management maintains a cautiously optimistic outlook, forecasting a 3.5% increase in operating revenues and a 4.0% rise in profit attributable to NTT for the fiscal year ending March 31, 2026. The company aims to leverage its strategic investments and operational efficiencies to drive sustainable growth in the competitive telecommunications industry.
