Norsk Titanium AS ( (DE:84F) ) has shared an announcement.
Norsk Titanium has signed a collaboration agreement with Airbus to jointly develop and document Direct Energy Deposition process standards for its Rapid Plasma Deposition technology. As part of the deal, Norsk Titanium will install a Merke IV RPD machine at Airbus’s Varel production facility in Germany for joint technical evaluation, process qualification, and validation of titanium parts.
The partnership aims to move Airbus from part-specific approvals to broader process-based qualification, making it easier to transition a wider range of components to additive manufacturing over time. This work, which builds on an existing long-term supply agreement for A350-related raw material, is intended to accelerate industrial adoption of DED at Airbus and underpins Norsk Titanium’s strategy to grow in the commercial aerospace market by offering cost and time savings on titanium components.
