Stranger Holdings ( (GB:NEO) ) has issued an announcement.

Neo Energy Metals’ South African subsidiary Desert Star Uranium has had its mining right application for the Henkries Node in the Northern Cape formally accepted for processing by the regional Department of Mineral and Petroleum Resources. The application covers a suite of polymetallic minerals consistent with Henkries’ geology, with uranium identified as the primary target as the company advances its near-surface uranium strategy.

Regulators now have up to 300 days to decide on the mining right, with acceptance not yet permitting mining, while Neo must demonstrate compliance with a minimum 30% Black Economic Empowerment shareholding and initiate the water use licensing process. The progress at Henkries complements the company’s New Beisa brownfield project, reinforcing Neo Energy’s push to build a South African uranium production portfolio with existing infrastructure and feasibility-backed economics.

More about Stranger Holdings

Neo Energy Metals is a uranium and gold development company listed on the London Stock Exchange Main Market and A2X, with a Johannesburg listing targeted for 2026. It controls two South African uranium projects with combined JORC- and SAMREC-compliant resources of 31.5 million pounds of uranium and 1.2 million ounces of gold, positioning it in both brownfield and near-surface developments.

The flagship New Beisa Node in the Free State Goldfields is a brownfield uranium and gold project acquired from Sibanye-Stillwater, benefiting from over US$500 million of historical infrastructure investment and existing underground access. The Henkries Node in the Northern Cape is a shallow, palaeochannel-hosted uranium deposit with proven processing routes and a 2024 feasibility study indicating attractive economics at current and lower uranium prices.
