Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group, Inc. (MUFG) has announced its opposition to shareholder proposals suggesting amendments to its Articles of Incorporation regarding climate change and client transition plans. The company maintains that its current governance structure and medium-term business plan already prioritize sustainability, and it believes that the proposed changes could restrict strategic flexibility and impact corporate value. MUFG asserts that its existing efforts and disclosures, including the MUFG Climate Report 2024, sufficiently address climate-related issues without the need for incorporating them into the Articles of Incorporation.
