MTM Critical Metals Ltd. has announced that their Flash Joule Heating (FJH) prototype has significantly improved the recovery of rare earth elements and critical metals from coal fly ash, with increases ranging from 50% to 514% over traditional acid leach methods. This advancement, which has been scaled up 50 times from initial proof of concept, also promises to reduce acid use and waste in the leaching process. The company plans to extend testing to other metal-rich waste sources, enhancing the economic viability of this sustainable technology.
