An announcement from Montero Mining and Exploration ( (TSE:MON) ) is now available.

Montero Mining and Exploration has identified two coherent deep porphyry-style targets at its Elvira gold project in Chile’s Maricunga Belt, following independent geochemical vector modelling by Fathom Geophysics. The work integrates rock geochemistry with previous geological and geophysical data, reinforcing the interpretation that Elvira hosts a large, vertically zoned high-sulphidation epithermal system potentially linked to a deeper porphyry centre.

Using 38 rock samples analyzed by four-acid digestion ICP-MS, Fathom applied established porphyry geochemical zonation models to map the spatial distribution of key pathfinder elements in three dimensions. The results provide a more focused framework for Montero to apply AI-assisted modelling and prioritize future drilling, potentially enhancing the project’s exploration efficiency and value proposition for stakeholders.
